Read-only, always
Each app runs on a read-only Kalshi API key and has no order code. Nothing under the Spex name places, amends, or cancels a bet.
Your data stays yours
Apps talk straight to Kalshi. No Spex server in the middle, no account to create, nothing about your positions leaves your machine.
Is Spex affiliated with Kalshi?
No. Spex is an independent open-source project. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Kalshi. "Kalshi" is their trademark.
Does Spex work with Polymarket, FanDuel, DraftKings, or other sportsbooks?
No. Every Spex app reads from Kalshi's API and nothing else. Other prediction markets and sportsbooks have their own APIs or none at all, and there's no plan to add them.
Can any Spex app place a bet for me?
No. They run on read-only Kalshi API keys and have no order code. They show you what you hold and what it's worth.
Why is it called Spex?
A haruspex was a Roman priest who predicted the future by reading the entrails of a sacrificed animal. That's roughly what checking your Kalshi portfolio at 11pm feels like. Spex is the tail end of that word, and also specs, as in the glasses in the logo. Less mess, same anxiety.
